About Microparticle Depots

Microparticle depots are drug delivery systems that utilize tiny particles to encapsulate and release therapeutic agents in a controlled manner. These particles can be in the form of matrix-like microspheres or microcapsules with a unique core/shell structure. Their size is typically in the micrometer or nanometer range and can be composed of a variety of materials, such as biodegradable polymers, lipids, or inorganic substances. Once formulated, the microparticles are typically lyophilized or freeze-dried to produce a stable dry powder, which remains in a dry state until they are mixed with a diluent prior to administration.
