Size Determination-Particle

What Is Size Determination Particle Service?

The Size Determination-Particle service is designed to precisely measure and analyze the size of particles within the samples.

Particle size is important in understanding the intricate chemical and structural properties of materials. It finds extensive utility in the realms of pharmaceutical and material research, aiding in the determination of size distributions for various particles, including proteins, polymers, micelles, carbohydrates, and nanoparticles.

Why Measure Particle Size?

In pharmaceutical research, the determination of particle size empowers researchers to gain a deeper understanding of drug properties and exercise better control over the drug. For instance, the size and morphology of drug particles serve as vital parameters for optimizing drug bioavailability and therapeutic effectiveness.

Furthermore, the determination of particle size is instrumental in evaluating innovative drug delivery systems, such as lipid nanoparticles and exosomes.

How to Measure Particle Size?

Protheragen-ING offers the following three technologies for Particle Size Determination service.

  1. Dynamic light scattering (DLS)
It determines particle size and size distribution in a solution or solid sample by measuring fluctuations in light intensity over time. DLS is suitable for solution samples and soluble solid samples.
  2. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
This method transmits an electron beam through the sample (the sample should generally be a solid with a thickness of less than 100 nm), followed by imaging on a fluorescent screen after multiple electron amplifications. It allows us to observe particle sizes at the microscopic level.
  3. Scanning electron microscope (SEM)
In contrast to TEM, SEM scans the sample's surface with an electron beam and measures the electrons reflected from the sample's surface to obtain information about sample morphology and particle size. SEM is particularly suitable for analyzing surface characteristics.

Initial Consultation & Project Planning

We engage with clients to understand their specific analysis requirements, including gathering essential information about test samples. Based on these requirements, we select the most appropriate methods.

Sample Preparation

Before testing, our professional staff prepares the sample to ensure its suitability for testing. For instance, SEM necessitates smooth sample surfaces with appropriate conductivity.

TEM has specific thickness requirements, and for powder samples, we grind them and affix them to ultrathin slices. DLS requires ensuring solvent uniformity.

These meticulous sample preparation steps are essential for successful testing and provide accurate results for client research needs.

Analysis & Reporting

We conduct analysis with precision and accuracy. Then provide clients with a report that includes the measurement data, details of the testing conditions, and sample Preparation steps.

Follow-up Support

Following the submission of the report, we maintain ongoing communication with clients, offering further assistance.

Protheragen-ING provides Size Determination-Particle service to help researchers unlock insights into their materials and compounds. If you are interested in or need more information, please contact us and we will promptly respond within 2-4 working days.
